Festival in the Spotlight

Every year, Festival in the Spotlight is taking place in the heart of Brno, at Namesti Svobody and partly at Moravske Namesti. There are four main festivals, Festival of Beer, Festival of Food, Festival of Wine and Festival of Crafts.

Every year, Festival in the Spotlight is taking place in the heart of Brno, at Namesti Svobody and partly at Moravske Namesti. There are four main festivals, starting on the 11th September with a Festival of Beer. You will be able to taste beer from big breweries and small family owned ones as well. There will also be a variety of food available and a music programme. It will be open from 10 a.m. at Namesti Svobody and 16 p.m. at Moravske namesti, both until midnight. It ends on 14th September.

Continuing on the 18th September, a Festival of Food will be opened at Namesti Svobody. There will be a wide variety of appetizers, main courses and desserts to choose from and a music programme as well. Besides food there will also be coffee shops and bars serving both non-alcoholic and alcoholic cocktails. To make things easier, smoother and faster you will have to buy „grants“ to use instead of money when buying the food. Each grant costs 30 CZK. The festival will be open every day from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m.. It can stay open until 10 p.m. This festival ends on 21st September.

Another festival is starting on Friday 26th September, a Festival of Wine. Over a hundred different samples from different wineries will be available for tasting at Namesti Svobody. You will also be able to see different crafts connected to wine making and have a snack as there will also be food stands. It will be open from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., with a cultural programme from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m..Again, it can stay open until 10 p.m. This festival ends on 3rd October.

Jewelry making, spice making, soap making, pot making, herbalists, gingerbread making, fur making, cheese making, bakers, butchers, glass makers, beekeepers, blacksmiths and regional grocery sellers are all going to gather at namesti Svobody on 6th October to show their skills at Festival of Crafts. It will start at 10 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. or 10 p.m. every day. There will also be a stand with interesting tips for tourist destinations in the Czech Republic and an additional programme from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. This festival ends on 12th October.
