Layout

Layout – the flat is designed for one to two persons for the ultimate relaxation after a hard day’s work. Despite the fact that the area would allow the design of the apartment with multiple bedrooms, the character of the attic space and the existing location of the stairs do not really allow for it. In terms of layout, we made a few minor changes, which greatly benefited the functioning of the entire flat.

In the bedroom, we separated an independent closet space with a partition wall. The bathroom and toilet have increased in size, and another separate closet has been created in the gallery.

Concept /colours/materials – the colour of the entire flat is based on a scale from white, bleached wood on wood floors through the warm grey of the screed to anthracite on the walls of the bathroom and raw steel. The dominant element has turned out to be the mass with the bathroom and toilet, which is made in anthracite from all sides and from inside. Materials vary according to needs and requirements - cement screed in the shower, Decorative screed behind the washbasin, tinted glass, paint and varnish on the sliding door. Other rooms are done in bright light tones.

Kitchen –the original kitchen was extended up to the large French doors to the terrace, which seemed to us like a pity, moreover, in terms of practicality it was not the right solution. Instead, we have added a stainless steel kitchen island bar that replaces the dining table. The kitchen equipment is based on the fact that the client does not fancy cooking too much. The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher at half height, a small oven, and completed with the addition of a vinotheque.

Living room – the original location of the sofa against the window was in terms of watching TV completely inappropriate. Therefore, we placed a corner sofa made to measure into the slanted and vice versa the high chimney wall was utilized for installing the television and plus a fireplace that runs on bio-alcohol.

Bedroom – a narrow wardrobe has been added, the entire height of which is used. Additionally, it is ventilated and lit by a small slanted window in the gable wall. The bedroom itself is equipped with a large comfortable custom-made bed, which is lightened from the floor by illumination under the structure so that it creates a floating effect.

A reading corner is placed under the staircase with a chair and an "invisible" bookcase – thus shelves that are concealed among books. Staircase – we have removed the original staircase due to the unsuitable incline and replaced it by a more comfortable staircase made of steel steps on a massive central stringer. The stainless steel handrail is divided into two parts and is anchored into the stringer.

Gallery – it serves as a rest area overlooking Prague, an occasional guest room or a home office. The boiler has been moved to the gallery in order to make room for the bathroom. The boiler is installed in a recessed niche. The working corner is furnished with a custom-made desk from our previous project. A small closet extends behind the home office for seasonal clothing. Given that this space also serves as a guest room and in terms of layout, directly connects to the bedroom, we replaced the original steel bannister with glass across the full height and added a curtain, which can be drawn for privacy.

Bathroom and toilet – the bathroom is equipped with a large glassed-in shower corner, which opens up to the bedroom through foxed smoke glazing. The shower is fitted with a massive stainless steel shower in raw design. The washbasin is installed on a countertop in the wide niche. The Glass Design washbasin is our catch from the Milan Trade Fair – the silver surface looks like crumpled aluminium foil laminated in durable resin. The taps are black to prevent the combination of too many silver surfaces. The wall behind the washbasin, as well as behind the toilet, is done with decorative Granite screed. The bathroom and toilet are separated from the entrance hall by sliding doors on a stainless steel rail. The doors are painted in metallic colour so that they do not create a contrasting surface on the wall, but blend in instead.

Entrance hall – it is a fairly generous space given the flat. We have taken advantage of one part for a built-in shoe rack with a seating area and mirror. The other part is like an open hanger for coats. A large photo wallpaper head of the horse Ergon – client’s horse - dominates the space.

Accessories – the entire flat is the flagship of LooooX accessories. It is not only the fabrics like linen, cushions on the seat and fur blanket, but also the metal tables made of polished aluminium, both in the entrance hall and living room. Naturally, the interior includes concrete and metal floor lamps and countless vases and flower pots, which are the imaginary icing on the cake.
