Health insurance for foreigners
All non EU foreigners need a Czech comprehensive health insurance which coveres whole medical health care in case of some
accident.
New changes in health insurance for non EU foreigners - from 1st of January 2011
As the new year 2011 came the Czech government agreed on few changes in the law (Act no. 326/1999 Coll. ) about requirements for foreigners staying in Czech for more than 90 days. We bring you the changes in the law to know what you should require from your insurance company.
1.) The insurance has to be provided only by any of Czech insurance company who has the license according the law to provide this type of insurance (Uniqua pojišťovna, Slavia pojišťovna, VZP, Victoria Volksbank, Maxima pojišťovna)
2.) The insurance limit has to be of a value of at least 60.000,- EUR.
3.) The health insurance has to cover these accidents:
- sudden health care/accidence
- prevent health care
- there should not be your financial participation (e.g. the cost of the health care is 10 000 Kč but you are supposed to pay 1 000 Kč)
- health care of accidents which happened under alcohol or any drugs or during any sport activity
- health care of accidents which happened by your intentional mistake
The health insurance which was required before 1.1.2011 covered only necessary health care (similar as tourist insurance) which did not cover most of the parts mentioned at point no. 2.) and 3.) To read the whole part of the law no. 326/1999 Coll. – click here (only in Czech)
